Welcome to the Clatskanie Rifle and Pistol Club

Please see the Events and the Calendar tab above for updates and/or range use schedule.

The Clatskanie Rifle and Pistol Club (CR&PC) was founded in 1944 as a community shooting range in a cow field. We were incorporated in 1948. The first club house and range was located in town. The Club is a private club owned by our members.  However, many members of the community have helped build or have contributed in order to get what you see today.

We work to keep the range open to the public on the 2nd and 4th weekend of the month from 10 AM to 2 PM free of charge. We do not supply targets. (Please check our calendar for any changes.) Everyone on the range must have eye and ear protection.

We encourage our members to attend all club functions.  It is highly advocated that enrolled members volunteer at the club a total of 4 hours (or more) every two years.  Volunteering can be in the form of work party attendance and/or range duty etc.  Safety process for range duty is located/posted on the wall near the main range benches or range duty training can be provided upon request.

We do allow organizations and groups the rental of our range such as Hunter Safety Education, Special National Rifle League, the National Guard and Law Enforcement Agencies.

There are 3 shooting ranges:

-The Main Outdoor rifle range is 15, 25, 50, 100 and 200 yards. Shotguns may be used on the short distance pistol range but they must be discharged into the dirt bank and not the grass or target/backer boards.

-The Upper Outdoor range is 60 yards and is a multiply purpose range where you can use any caliber pistol, rifle or shotgun. It has 2 backer boards.  Again, when shooting shotguns please do not shoot at the backer boards but instead please shoot at the dirt bank.

-The Indoor 50-foot range is open to pistol and pistol calibers only.  Calibers for “Pistols” include any pistol caliber except magnum loads. “Rifles” used on the indoor range must be 22 long rifle/long/short only.  (Standard, high-velocity and subsonic rifle calibers/pistol calibers from carbines and/or lo2nger barrels increasing velocity etc. are not to be used on the indoor range.)

A general range layout map is located on by clicking the Information tab (above) and scrolling down.

No metal, glass or aerial targets are allowed!

All who shoot should pick up and retain or dispose of their own brass/steel casings.

Safety is our policy.  Ear and eye protection are required for participants and spectators during shoots and Range Rules posted or communicated are to be followed. Member orientation is required within 30 days of joining. Please contact Gerry Simmons (Range Master) for an orientation.
